Mezhprombank Plus

One of the largest Russian banks - Mezhprombank, previously noticed in an effort to deal with public service people, began expanding the market of private banking services. And has already invested in its retail project - «Mezhprombank Plus» - 50 million euro. In order to transform the bank into one of the most visible players in the market, its shareholders are prepared to spend another 200 million dollars. What is your strategy for the development of retail business?

Our development program includes three phases. First - Technical - translation of the retail business of International Industrial Bank «Mezhprombank Plus» (we now have about 500 million of deposits and more than 1 billion rubles of loans). With that we can handle pretty quickly - within two to three months. Private clients will benefit from this, with modern banking products and a new quality of service. The second phase - the establishment of one year service centers in Moscow. The third phase - expansion to the regions, the first results of which, I hope, become apparent after two years.

Unlike some other Russian banks, developing the retail business, we will not be open full-fledged branches in the province - it is economically impractical. Their products, we plan to distribute through the agent network of partner companies and small offices. Our line of products, we run a long time, albeit on a small number of customers. In this business we are not novices, to retail, there has never been our number one priority. With regard to this market, until it is saturated, and the fierce competition to say no. I am sure that enough space on it all, the potential market is huge. In

«mattresses» a huge population of hidden money, which, theoretically, could be kept in bank deposits. Even more potential in the sector of consumer lending. According to our research over the past few years this market in Russia grew by 20 times. The volume of consumer credit is still 2.7% of GDP, while in Eastern Europe - 8%, in developed Western countries - at least 50%. And if you look at the projections of both Russian and Western analysts, the next five to ten years in this sector, we looked forward to the present boom.

I will say only that we regard as partners with several major commercial financial institutions that have experience in building a retail business. In Russia, its own specific retail banking. Strictly speaking, therefore, foreigners now prefer to become shareholders of existing banks, rather than create from scratch «daughter».

However, regardless of the will of the shareholders, foreigners or not, our plans and concept development «Mezhprombanka Plus» remain unchanged.
